The Caritasverband Salzgitter takes over the management of the facility, which is generously equipped with 50 places for the daycare center and 30 places for the crib. Mayor Frank Klingebiel emphasized the importance of the daycare center as a place for community and integration at the inauguration.

The inauguration already marks the second new daycare center in a short time. The Zingel daycare center was only inaugurated in Salzgitter-Lichtenberg on June 5. This facility also offers space for 50 kindergarten and 30 crib children. Both projects have an extensive initiative of the city of Salzgitter, which has created around 1,000 new daycare places in recent years.

The new daycare center in Brotweg is designed as a movement daycare center, which focuses on promoting sporting activities and community experiences. The city of Salzgitter and the state of Lower Saxony have invested together in the new building. The costs for the new kindergarten amount to 6.5 million euros, with the city and the country bear half of the costs. The financing takes place from the integration fund, which was negotiated by Prime Minister Stephan Weil in 2017.

When building the daycare center, great importance was placed on quality. A previous building at this point was demolished for 160,000 euros to make room for the new, modern facility. Mayor Klingebiel emphasized that only with a solid investment in daycare centers and schools can be laid the basis for a positive future development of the urban society.

The first children of the Zingel daycare center are to start operating in the next few weeks. With a total cost of almost 7.6 million euros, this facility paid particular attention to climate -friendly building. This includes a photovoltaic system and a heat pump. According to Dr. Ulrike Witt, the state representative for regional development in Braunschweig, are not only educational locations, but also social anchors in the community.

In addition, a third inauguration will take place in Salzgitter-Bad in the coming days, which will continue the initiative for creating additional places for early childhood education in the region.

Integration in early education

An important aspect of the new daycare centers is integrative education. According to the guidelines of the Lower Saxony educational offer, the joint upbringing of children with and without disabilities is not only desired, but also stipulated by law. The aim is to enable all children to have educational success and social participation from Klein.
