Superart Festival 2025: Record attendance and unforgettable atmosphere in Lübeck!
On Sunday evening, June 15, 2025, the Super Art Festival 2025 in Lübeck was coming to an end. And what a finish! With a new record of 43,000 visitors over three days, the event on the Diakonie Nord Nord Ost campus became the ace up the sleeve of the northern German cultural scene. The mood was happy and relaxed until the last minute, supported by summer temperatures - with the exception of Sunday afternoon when a few clouds appeared.
An exciting program was presented to festival visitors on six stages and in a circus tent. Well-known artists like Clueso and Großstadtgehisher got the crowd going wild, while Deine Freunde and Arrested Development provided additional musical highlights. All of this under the motto of inclusion and tolerance, which is very important here. Festival director Michael “Roosty” Schmerschneider warmly thanked the audience and the dedicated team of 450 people who were behind the successful event.
A festival of inclusion and mindfulness
The super art festival is not only a musical event, but also takes a strong stance on social issues. According to the organizers, who work with people from different nations and with and without disabilities, a special ticket policy is followed here. People who cannot afford to attend the festival receive free access. This reflects the commitment that stands for an inclusive and trusting society, explains the Superkunstfestival website.
In times of inflation and rising costs of living, it is more important than ever to make culture accessible to everyone. The festival adjusts ticket and catering prices without compromising quality. In addition, in collaboration with Stadtwerke Lübeck, the festival ticket can also be used as a bus ticket, which makes the visit even easier. Beverage catering will also be placed in the hands of local clubs and pubs in 2025 – a win-win situation for everyone involved!
A symbol of diversity
Last but not least, the festival is a place of welcoming culture. Over 100 refugees live on campus, a powerful reminder of the senselessness of conflict in the world. These aspects underline the festival's commitment, which clearly positions itself against war, repression, fascism and anti-Semitism. The atmosphere was one of solidarity and a sense of community that united all participants.
In the midst of this colorful event, the importance of music festivals in the German cultural landscape is also highlighted. A national study is currently being carried out on the situation of music festivals in order to record economic and social aspects, as the Initiative Music reports. Music festivals help to find identity and promote newcomers and are valued as important spaces for discourse.
While we await the results of this comprehensive study, the Super Arts Festival remains a shining example of how culture can build bridges. Lübeck has once again proven that the cultivation of art and inclusion can go hand in hand. This is the conclusion: This festival was not only a musical, but also a cultural triumph across the board!
