Let's start with the Klütturm, which opened in 1843 and is also known as the “Georgturm”. Adventurers get their money's worth here - 99 steps lead up to the viewing platform, from which you have a magnificent panoramic view over Hameln. Admission at just 1 euro is a bargain, and a small kiosk provides refreshments and souvenirs. On Tuesday to Sunday the tower is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those who prefer to travel on foot can look forward to the recommended hikes around the tower, which are offered at various levels of difficulty. A popular route is about 8 kilometers long and offers a climb of 229 meters.

Towers steeped in history

The Haspelmath Tower, built in 1450, is the only remaining tower of the former city fortifications. Accessible free of charge, it is open for visits on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This takes you directly into the history of Hamelin.

The Minster Church of St. Bonifatius, the oldest church in Hamelin, is currently having its west tower renovated and will remain closed until mid-2026. But the interior of the church and the churchyard invite you to explore. The market church of St. Nicolai in the heart of the old town is also worth a visit - the tower can be climbed for a small donation, and you have the opportunity to do so during the relaxing hours from Monday to Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A little further away, but still in the focus of many visitors, is the Bismarck Tower in Bad Pyrmont. The 31 meter high tower has 139 steps to the viewing platform and costs 1.50 euros entry (children up to 14 years have free access). Open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., it tempts you to visit.

The Millennium View in Steinbergen is the most modern observation tower, opened in 2000 with an entrance fee of 6 euros for adults and 2 euros for children. Climbing its 156 steps is rewarded with breathtaking views that can be enjoyed Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Another highlight is Schaumburg Castle, just 15 minutes from Hamelin. Here you will find the Georgturm with a fabulous view and the opportunity to explore the area on a relaxing walk.
